Rubank Verktygs AB is now one year old!
The company started because I could not find a good source of planes in Sweden, so I started one myself.
From day one the goal has been to offer high-quality tools for fine woodworking, boatbuilding, instrument making and more, whether you are a professional or an enthusiast. It all began with contacts with Veritas in Canada and Hock in the USA, both of which have a good reputation and high-quality tools. Hand planes, plane blades and backsaws were what we started with. Since this spring we also have Japanese water stones from Naniwa.
"The love of wood consists of sharp tools," wrote master joiner Tomas Tempte in his book Arbetets ära. Sharp tools are what we want ourselves when we work, so the Veritas honing guide is used for both chisels and plane blades. New since the autumn are rasps from the French maker Auriou. We have also started carrying Japanese chisels and mortise chisels.
For those who build guitars, violins or other instruments, Veritas brought out something new after the summer: instrument makers' planes, or miniature planes. They work for other small jobs too, for example rounding over an edge with the concave plane.
The future holds more tools! This autumn we will add more tools to the range. Veritas has some new products coming, and we are bringing in some new brands that customers have tipped us off about.
