It has been a while since the last update. We have not been slacking; it has been busy the whole time. About six months ago we switched to a new platform for the shop, and we have been trying to grow into it. There have been things we needed to deal with, and at times it has felt a bit overwhelming. We needed to make a Swedish version of the shop: 95% of our products come from outside Sweden, so every time we add a product it has to be translated. I have to admit that lately I skipped that and left the English version on both languages, partly because I think many people actually search for the English terms they see online. But it should be done right! So now we have got going.

All products now have a proper Swedish name, products in the same group are named the same way, and the maker's name starts the product name where it fits. We have also rewritten all descriptions, brought in new information from the manufacturers and made the texts more informative. There is also a shorter summary of each product, which is what you see in the quick view and at the top of the product page. There are also more technical improvements under the hood that, for example, make Google happier. We hope all this makes it easier to find what you are looking for. The images have been reviewed too, and many products have been given more pictures.

As for searching, we have a new search engine that opens when you click the search bar. I think it is very fast, and you should get good hits on your search words. If you browse the shop in Swedish, around 500 English terms are also searched, as well as some other, perhaps older, expressions. Please try it and let us know if a particular word for a particular product is missing, and we will gladly add it.

Another big job we felt was badly needed was sorting out the categories. We used to have around 500 categories and it was impossible to get an overview; I could not always find where products were myself. That has now been cleaned up properly, and products sit together in shared categories. To narrow down the products you can use the filters. We are still adding filters, so in some categories you can only filter by brand and by whether the item is in stock. In others you can filter by, for example, the width of a chisel, the type of steel in a plane blade or the length of a saw. On a computer or tablet the filters are on the left, next to the products. On a phone they are above the products and can be easy to miss if you scroll down quickly. The category texts and descriptions have been reworked and images added here too.

We have added an FAQ with many of the questions we often get, or that we felt needed answering. It will grow over time. https://rubank.se/en/faq

The last big change is that the Ta i trä blog has moved into the shop instead of being a separate site. This makes it easier to turn it into the hub of information we want it to be. All posts from the old site have been moved over, and many longer texts that used to sit in the shop, for example on the category pages, have become blog posts instead. Everything is now linked back and forth throughout the shop. When you look at a product there may be a blog post that describes the tool or technique in more detail. We hope this makes things easier to understand. https://rubank.se/en/blog

The old newsletter has also been retired. There were about 80 of them over roughly six to seven years. They took a long time to make, and it sometimes felt as if I was repeating the same things every time. We will keep posting, above all on the blog. I have not worked it all out yet, but the idea is that you will be able to choose what you want to hear about: every blog post, a weekly or monthly summary, new products and so on. We will get back to you on how it turns out.

For the past month or so we have been the Swedish dealer for Record Power, and all their products are now in the shop.
