We Admit It, That Was Not Our Best Newsletter

Our last newsletter wasn't very informative. We thought we wouldn't mention corona or anything about viruses, but that is a bit difficult when everything we do is affected by what is happening in the world right now. So we are doing better this time! More news for everyone!

We have continued to work in shifts. We ship orders on Mondays and Thursdays, and some go out on other days, especially Tuesdays, as there have been so many orders after weekends that it has been hard to pack them all before DHL collects. From what we have seen, deliveries have worked very well: everyone gets their orders the next day or a day or two later. We are shipping more and more to Europe (and the rest of the world). Deliveries to the EU and Norway have gone reasonably well. DHL has had problems keeping up in Germany, and some deliveries were stuck there for up to three weeks. But DHL is said to have solved the problems with its overfull sorting centres there, and deliveries now seem to get through in a day or so as usual. Deliveries outside the EU go with TNT, and they have had no problems delivering during these months.

Some of our suppliers have worked well. The USA has been the most shut down. Lie-Nielsen Toolworks is running at reduced capacity; the others have been closed for a long time. Incra Precision Tools has about six weeks to catch up. This is what Knew Concepts wrote to us when we asked how things were:
"We were almost totally shut down for the past 2 months, so we are slowly starting to dig out from under all those orders. And the people who cut the saw frames for us are also backed up. So the best I can say about time right now is "as fast as we can". I'll get your order into the computer, and get it started. Once it gets ready to ship, I will let you know."

Veritas in Canada has kept running, but with fewer staff. We received a delivery from them last week. Lost Art Press works with a warehouse that has stayed open the whole time, and their delivery is crossing the Atlantic right now; it is expected in the middle of next week. Dubuque Clamp Works will ship a delivery of clamps on Monday. Trend UK has been able to deliver but is starting to run out of some products. We can't order their protective equipment, as everything they produce goes to the NHS. Some products made in Europe have sold out; for example, we can't get the T4 router until after Midsummer.

As usual, you can see some of the new products on their way here: new products

Besides new books from Lost Art Press, we are getting some Crucible Tools products:

We are also getting a delivery from Narex next week, full of mortise chisels, cranked paring chisels, turning tools and carving tools.

The Veritas delivery brought a couple of new products.

If you want to make your own mitre box, there are these clever accessories: Veritas miter box guides

The Veritas "Japanese-style saw", developed among other things for use with their saw guides: Veritas dovetail saw for saw guides

A new, very fine-toothed saw (22 tpi), designed for cutting thin material: Veritas small fine-tooth crosscut saw, 22 tpi

We will come back in the next newsletter with more of what is coming. This spring has been a real upheaval for us, with everything that is happening and with you supporting us by shopping like never before. We have grown a lot (a great deal) every month this spring and are at record levels all the time. It is incredibly fun, and it lets us keep restocking and bring in new products and brands that we hope you will appreciate. We get lots of questions about products (whether we can bring them in, when they will be restocked and so on), and we try to answer everything. We would also like more feedback from you. Is there something you miss being able to buy in Sweden? Do get in touch and we will see what we can do. We have lots of things in the pipeline that have been delayed a little, but we hope to tell you more soon.

We will be in touch again soon. Take care!
