It was not the first tool I bought from Rubank Verktygs, but it is definitely the one I have used the most. It is so handy and just the right size, you can keep it in your pocket. Need to check whether something is square? Out it comes. How deep is it? Out it comes. Draw a line along the edge? Out it comes. Measure up for a hinge, for example? Out it comes. You could say it is indispensable. What is it? Since 1960, PEC Tools has been a respected name in precision craftsmanship. From work on measuring tables to measuring and marking out on curved surfaces, our measuring tools are built for long-lasting accuracy, clear readability and durability – so you can build up a set of tools you can rely on. Their combination squares are well known for their blue colour. They come in two sizes, the so-called 6 inch and the classic 12 inch. The 6 inch version has two rules, 100mm and 150mm, a head with 90 and 45 degrees, a head for finding the centre, and the head I like, the straight one (Double Square).

We now bring these parts in loose, and then we take the loose parts and assemble the tools you order. So you can buy them separately if you need to add a part. If you buy the so-called sets, you get a small discount compared with buying the parts separately. The larger model has the angled head, a centre head and one with a protractor. The rules are 300, 450 and 600mm, and we have 300 and 450 with inch markings as well. The straight head is not available for the larger model. There is one more accessory. If you need a smaller rule to measure where space is tight, the "Dovetailing Blade" is just right and fits the smaller model. It is also available for older models. You can find the whole range here.

JessEm recently sent a delivery that included two new products. First, the 45-degree base for the aluminium version of the plug drill jig. The other product is the very clever and, unfortunately, much-copied safety product that stops the workpiece from kicking back on the table saw or router table. This new one fits pretty much all saws. It is called the JessEm Clear-Cut STS Stock Guides.

Router lifts have also been restocked. https://rubank.se/sv/3036-jessem

Lost Art Press: we wrote last time that it was on its way, and two weeks ago it arrived, although a week late as it got stuck in customs in Malmö. But good things come to those who wait. One of the books is a new one in the mini book series. It is called "Smalls: 18 Well-designed, Easy Projects for an Afternoon in the Workshop". The projects were written and built by Lost Art Press themselves, and it is rather fun to be able to offer something like that to those who work there. Another book is the fourth volume of The Stick Chair Journal, short reflections and projects around stick chairs. The first three volumes are still in print. https://rubank.se/sv/brand/31-lost-art-press
On Saturday 5 September we are open and, among others, Tormek is coming to demonstrate. We are open 10-15. The Saturday after that we will be in Finland. In Kristinestad it is Building Conservation Day (Byggnadsvårdsdag). Information about it can be found here.

LeeValley/Veritas had a major flood at one of their factories this spring, and they have worked hard over the summer to sort it out. As a result they have not been able to run full production and are now behind with deliveries, including to us. So we received a smaller first autumn delivery, which we used to restock items that had sold out. One small novelty we got was an end stop for their edge rules. https://rubank.se/sv/linjaler/13981-veritas-small-edge-rule-end-stop-722356027264.html
There are a few bottles of glue left from the first batch. We will soon make another batch, and then we will remove the introductory price that applies right now. I understand that it can seem complicated to have to warm the glue before it can be used, but it isn't. It can be enough to run the hottest water you can get from the tap over it and the glue starts to flow, and if you have had it at room temperature for a while beforehand it goes quickly. I have several projects where I will use it myself, so why not some of the 18 projects from the book Small? Perfect as Christmas presents, perhaps? https://rubank.se/sv/lim-och-tillbehor/13588-piggly-no-wiggly-glue.html
There is a bit more news to share, but it isn't quite ready yet; we are working on getting it into the shop and getting it here. We may send an extra newsletter a little earlier than usual.
