As this is written it is late in the evening and still warm outside. We continue to work for a few more weeks, open in the shop and sending orders Monday to Thursday between 10-14. Then we will be closed in weeks 29 and 31 before we get going with the autumn term. But the summer continues and we want to write again that we have an extra Saturday opening on 8/7, when we get a visit from Christopher Schwarz of Lost Art Press.
For those of you who may not know Chris, he is a journalist who has worked with fine woodworking in several different forums. He was employed and later editor-in-chief at Popular Woodworking, and wrote many books that were published by the magazine. Later Chris started Lost Art Press and now works as an editor and gives courses when he is not writing posts on several blogs and new books.
Two of Chris's books in the popular Anarchist series: The Anarchist's Tool Chest and The Anarchist's Design Book. Chris has now been active for a good 30 years and has gathered some of his projects on his personal website: https://christophermschwarz.com
When we took over another shop early on, a carton of crayons came with it. Ever since I started working at Rubank I have seen this carton standing on a shelf. I have often thought of going through it and listing the contents in the shop. Now, perhaps 5 years later, they have finally been put up. There are two kinds of crayons, both well suited to marking wood, metal and other things. One is with oil and the other is without. Perfect for marking your work while you are busy with your projects. They are made in Germany by the company Drei Sterne. You will find them here in three colours, white, blue and red. We have added a news/blog function to the website. I have missed being able to write longer texts about things that happen or about products. I have published a couple of articles that are placed in different places in the shop. I hope it will give you added value when you visit us. This also means we are shutting down the separate blog we have had for a few years, as it is too messy to run two different systems. So the new place to find something worth reading is here: Ta i Trä
One of the first posts on the new news page is a little text about location services. Why we have it activated on the website and what we use it for. I hope it explains a little why you may get a pop-up box every time you visit us. I will finish here and wish you all a continued lovely summer, and hope as many as can will come and say hello next Saturday.
