May has been a bit hectic, with a lot of time off and many things going on privately. So I want to start by thanking you all for showing understanding that deliveries have taken a bit longer; we are working hard to get all the orders out as fast as we can. But right now we are a little behind. We are only two people, one of whom has another job as well. We try to work through the orders in date order, but sometimes there may be something special about an order that makes it take a little longer than we would like. I am aware that we sometimes fall short in communicating with you, in telling you why a delivery stalls; we will get better at that. If you have special requests about your delivery, requests about timing, changing the pick-up point and so on, write a comment; it is visible the whole time we work with the orders, and when we book shipping and pick, we know there are special requests and can replan a little. We are also working on generally improving the information to you about the orders and at the same time making our work more efficient. You have been very good at using the new support service; just remember to reply via the link provided, rather than just replying to the email, so that questions and answers are kept together throughout the whole conversation. We try to answer those questions the same day. Our wish is to help you as much as we can, but we need to prioritise orders and the shop first, which is why it is good to be able to answer when there is time left over. At the same time we have some fun information too: we will get some very special visitors later this summer, and you will not want to miss it. So keep an eye on our FB going forward, and we will post more info soon. It is about the middle/end of July. Another surprise is that Incra got in touch and told us they have 5 pallets ready for delivery; it was planned to come in August/September the last time they were in touch. We don't yet know exactly which things are coming, but since it is pallets, it should be router and saw table equipment. We will notify everyone who has registered interest when we know what is coming, and then we will release the products, so everyone gets the same chance to buy.
A few years ago we saw that Veritas had made a new product. We asked whether we could sell it to you, but they asked us to wait a while, as they didn't know how much they could produce. After a while we asked again and now they could ship, so in the latest deliveries we have received some parts of this, and now we have so much that we thought we could start selling it. At the end of the 1880s a patent was made on angled chisels with a removable handle. They became very popular; it is nice not to knock your knuckles when you are up on the surface working. Veritas has long considered making its own version of these chisels, and now at last we can sell them to you. The chisels come in four widths, 1/2", 3/4", 1" and 1 1/2". One handle that you screw on and off. And a matching tool roll. We have chosen to start selling them as one unit, as we haven't received so many. So now it is listed in the shop, and when you buy now you get the handle, the roll and two of the chisels, 3/4" and 1 1/2". We will then send the other two chisels as soon as they come to us. We will tell you before, so you also have the opportunity to add other products with free shipping. As it looks now, the set will be complete after the summer. We have now restocked Veritas properly. We now have about 630 products listed and right now only about 80 are out of stock. The latest deliveries have been properly large, which we hope you appreciate, as the products are well made, many unique and the vast majority made in Canada by themselves or subcontractors. Among other things we have almost all sizes of tenon and plug tools.
We also got in their Dowel Maker. A very solid piece of kit at about 2.5kg. We now have the whole range at home. We had a Dowel Maker Master (where all the units are in one case, but it sold as soon as we listed it). We can probably put together one or a few more; get in touch if there is more interest in it and we will see what we can do. I also just want to say that the stock at Brusso is well filled, so if you are going to do a project during the summer with very fine hardware, it is worth looking in at Brusso. We don't have the whole range, but are happy to bring in other models if wanted.
After LeeValley bought Hock Tools, which we wrote about earlier, the products have now started to appear on their website. We will soon add the new article numbers they have been given, but will of course keep the old article numbers so they can still be searched for. We will also replace our pictures with the new ones that have been taken. It is well stocked with the old packaging, so if you have an older plane or want to make your own wooden plane, we have blades for that here. There are other thoughts about how we can make things better for you. We sometimes get information that people think the website is slow; it shouldn't be, we use the latest technology in the servers and have good power behind it, but there can always be things to improve. If you are knowledgeable in, for example, servers/technology and so on and feel you might be able to help, you are welcome to get in touch, if you see that we are using some incorrect setting, or have missed a good service. We also know that there may be faulty things in the shop, broken links, pictures that don't show, translation slips and other things that make a visit to us less than perfect. We ourselves don't have time to check everything, so we thought we would introduce a little bonus system for you: if you report things you find on the website that look odd, or that improve the overall impression for those of you who shop, we will hand out some goodies. It can be smaller products, free shipping on orders, discounts and so on. We will make a list of what you can choose between depending on how many reports you send in. For the time being you can use the support service for the reports. We are extremely grateful for all the feedback we get, whether it is errors found or that everything just works brilliantly. We have written it before: without you, we are not needed.
When we had a short spring closure last week, a delivery came from England and Hampshire Sheen. A completely new group of finishing sprays. At the same time the stock was also filled up with the rest of their products. We have also added small video clips under many of the products, where the manufacturer Martin shows how to use their things. They have Swedish subtitles if you choose that in the video window. We will be back with a new newsletter before Midsummer, about what Incra sends us and other things that may be interesting.
