This autumn Rubank Verktygs AB turns ten. What started with a few tools from Veritas has grown into a more or less complete shop for quality tools. We have used the same web platform, OpenCart, the whole time, in three or four different versions. That means we can pull out a lot of statistics about all sorts of things. Now that we have a little time on our hands, we have gathered some.
As for which day you prefer to place your orders, perhaps unsurprisingly it is Monday: 17 % of all orders are placed on a Monday. Only 10 % choose Saturday, the day you would rather do other things.
What time of day, then? You might think evening, but no. 1 pm is the most popular hour. Around lunch and into the afternoon (10–15) is clearly the favourite, with 42 % of orders. In the evening you prefer 9 pm. And then there are 3 % who are real night owls and order while the rest of us sleep.
So what do you buy? The bestseller is the Veritas honing guide, followed by three marking gauges from Veritas. The top three from Lie-Nielsen are the No. 102, No. 60 1/2 and No. 62. From Tormek it is the Hand Tool Kit followed by the T-8.
Looking at manufacturers, the top five are Veritas, Lie-Nielsen, Narex, Lost Art Press and Trend.
Just as we were writing the text above, an email arrived from Veritas. They have finished packing their largest delivery to us ever: about one cubic metre and 350 kg. We hope it lands with us in about two weeks. It contains all sorts of goodies, many long-awaited items and some brand-new ones.
We are always trying to restock, as we know many of you are waiting for that particular product you have had your eye on. We have been ordering all spring, and in the coming weeks deliveries arrive from Lost Art Press, Piher, Tormek, Dubuque and Veritas, among others, several with brand-new products.
We are waiting for confirmation from Henry Taylor and Connell.
Unfortunately we will have to wait for Lie-Nielsen and Incra. They have no way of shipping at the moment; their production has more or less stopped, or the little they produce goes only to the domestic US market.
Ehoma has also confirmed a delivery arriving at the end of the summer.
There is plenty more news in these deliveries, and more is on the way. Some has been postponed by the events affecting us all, but we hope to present it in the summer or autumn instead.
We are also continuing to make the website easier to use. We know a lot needs improving and simplifying so you can find what you are looking for. We want it to be the best site for those of you looking for quality tools. We will soon add a filter function, which means fewer categories; instead you filter on the values you are looking for. We are also working on the translations and going through all the products to fix errors, for example replacing pictures or adding more information. We welcome your feedback: what do you think works well or badly? We take everything on board and see if we can fix it. Do get in touch.
