What is a newsletter if you don't write about news? I usually write something general at the beginning in order to tie the sack together at the end; I don't know how often it works, but you have to try anyway. Now we have quite a lot of news to tell, so it is only right to write about that. We can start in Canada, on the east coast, where JessEm is located. They are so far out that they even have their own time zone, Atlantic Time, which we found out the hard way when we booked a phone meeting with them and were absolutely sure they had the same time as Lee Valley/Veritas. No such luck, we called them an hour too late. It was resolved with a shared laugh and the rest is history. We have now been getting deliveries from JessEm for a good year, and we really like them. Very high quality products, they think new thoughts and have active product development. We try to keep most of it in stock, but it has been hard to estimate how fast it sells, so there have been periods with empty shelves. JessEm has probably had a bit of growing pains lately, so deliveries have sometimes dragged on. But now it has eased up a bit and we have received a delivery with their new measuring and marking tools.

The three squares with several handy functions, rules and dovetail guides are what came this time. The squares, 150mm, 200mm and 300mm, are very nice to use. They feel solid with their weight and thick blade. The blade is marked in mm and has a pencil hole every mm. A built-in shoulder that you slide out if you need it makes the square sit steadily on the edge of the workpiece. If it should lose its accuracy in the angle, it is easy to reset. It also has a pattern on the blade that makes it stay in place without sliding away, which shiny ones easily do. This pattern is also found on the other products, the rules and the dovetail guides. The rules come in 4 models, 150mm, 300mm, 450mm and 600mm. They have the same thick, sturdy feel as the squares. They are also marked in mm but do not have the pencil holes.

The dovetail guides are sold as a pack with 1:6, 1:7, 1:8, 14 degrees, 45 degrees and 90 degrees. We already have their height gauge in stock, available in two sizes, of course in mm. All of them can be found here: JessEm We also have another delivery from JessEm planned for October, when their router motor is to arrive along with several products around the router tables. Lie-Nielsen has also sent a number of cartons; they will almost certainly arrive next week, and we will update the stock on Saturday evening. It will include the #102, #60 1/2 + (R), #62, #4 and the large and small froes. A pallet from Veritas is also on its way. It arrives next week if all goes smoothly. It is filled with honing jigs, router planes, T-slots, plane blades and planes. It will be updated as usual once we know it has landed safely on European soil. There is another delivery waiting there too, arriving at the end of October. It contains most of what is out of stock right now that didn't fit on the first pallet. Speaking of Veritas, we have announced an extra Saturday opening on 9 November with the title Veritas tools. We can now tell you that we will be visited by the head of the Veritas products, Richard Wile. He is an experienced fine woodworker and has written a book about sharpening. He has also been involved in developing several of Veritas's tools, and even has one under his own name, see here Veritas Wile plane hammer (at the moment both products are out of stock, but we will make sure to have restocked by then.) He has an active Instagram where he posts things he makes. https://www.instagram.com/rdwile/ Among other things he has made a tool chest for Veritas's miniature tools, using only those tools. The picture shows the original (which is actually the small one) and the large one he made afterwards for his full-size tools.

We have also reorganised the website a bit. We have made a new category, Tool Care, where we have collected everything needed to take care of your tools. We have moved the files and accessories for saws there, as well as the sharpening category. Under the saw files we have also sorted and renamed them so it is now easier to find the one you are looking for. We have removed the tpi info from the names and have posted cheat sheets on how to work out which file fits your saw. We use the English titles for the sizes so it is easier when you see someone online. We have also restocked with more sizes and more are on the way from Bahco. We will add more products going forward, for example file handles, so it will be as complete as possible for those of you who want to file/sharpen your saws.

We also have, as usual, Tormek's entire range at home. The latest products can be seen tomorrow, Saturday, when we have Saturday opening between 10-14. So come and see the new axe jigs and the new knife sharpening jig, also available here for those of you who can't come in person.

A big thing for us will happen in early 2025. We will write about it a bit later during the autumn, but can give small hints. +49 sq m, display area, more central.. If you want to guess, you are welcome to comment on the Facebook post for this newsletter. I will finish with a little message we received via social media; thanks Åppstu snickeri, Ostrobothnia, Finland, for the attention! (https://www.instagram.com/appstusnickeri/)
