Sweep and size
The sweep describes the shape of the edge: sweep 1 is flat, sweep 2 is flat but skewed, and higher numbers give an increasingly deep curve, with sweep 5 having a gentle radius. Width is given for each size. Henry Taylor tools are black on the outside with a bright ground inside, the blades are 120 mm long and the handles sit comfortably in the hand.
The tools are hand forged. Henry Taylor holds that forging gives a better shape and better metallurgical properties than drop stamping, and the steel is heat treated for an edge that gets sharp and stays sharp.
