The saw is designed to pull 50–60 pounds of tension on the blade, which makes it much stronger than the Mk3 saws, and the blade vibrates less. It is also thicker and slightly heavier, closer to the weight of a traditional saw, but still lighter. The saw is powder-coated red and is extremely scratch and damage resistant.
The cam lever tension is designed for rapid, repetitive blade changes, for example when piercing. The tension does not change when re-setting the blade: flip the lever forward to release the tension, re-position and clamp the blade, and flip the lever to the rear, and you are sawing.
The swivel blade clamps can rotate the blade a full 360°, with click stops every 45°.

Which handsaw to choose depends on the tooth pattern and the number of teeth per inch (tpi). Rip teeth cut along the grain and crosscut teeth across it. Few teeth give fast but rough cuts, and many teeth give slower, cleaner cuts.
Backsaws such as tenon saws and dovetail saws are used for precise joinery. The guide covers tooth patterns, sharpening and choosing a saw.
