Veritas pipe vise, head and base. Working much like a pipe clamp, it is straightforward and inexpensive yet remarkably adaptable. It has two main parts: a head that attaches to a length of 3/4" black gas pipe (not included), and, in place of the usual tail piece, a base that mounts under a benchtop or other wooden surface. Additional bases (sold separately) can be mounted elsewhere, so one head and pipe can serve as a front vise, tail vise or a vise on a portable surface. The head rotates to any orientation, so it can clamp against a bench stop horizontally or against the bench skirt vertically.
The head has two through-holes for mounting your own jaw, driven by an Acme-threaded screw with 1" of travel for final tightening. A positive-locking clutch plate holds the pipe and is released for fast positioning with a front button or a rear eye bolt that can be linked to a shop-made foot pedal for hands-free use. The button can be set for right- or left-handed use and is length-adjustable from 3/4" to 2" to suit the skirt thickness.
Clamping capacity is limited only by the pipe length. Requires an unobstructed mounting area of at least 3" × 6" and 1 1/2" thick. Head and base are mostly cast iron with some steel parts.
Most products are restocked on an ongoing basis, but delivery times from the manufacturer vary. When an item is out of stock, the button Notify me when available appears on the product page.
Click the button and enter your email address, and we will email you as soon as the item is back in stock. If you are logged in, your email address is registered automatically. If you want to know when the next delivery is expected, you are welcome to contact us.
How often items are restocked depends on the supplier. We receive deliveries from Veritas about once a month, Lie-Nielsen ships in batches and we order from Incra about once a year. You can also add the item to a wishlist in your account, where you can see whether it is in stock.
