The Saddle-Tail is a dovetail marker that sits over the edge like a saddle, so you can mark both the end grain and the face in one setup. It was inspired by a layout tool in Christopher Schwarz's personal tool kit, made by Christian Groves of Melbourne, Australia. Sterling Tool Works founder Chris Kuehn used the tool in a class taught by Schwarz and wanted to bring a similar, improved design to more hand tool woodworkers. With his background in engineering, manufacturing and woodworking, he launched Sterling Tool Works, and the Saddle-Tail became its first product.
