The special pitch on the left-hand thread makes the rotation of the wheel tighten the nut to the right torque, so the grindstone is held securely with no danger of unwinding. When mounting the grindstone, turn the EzyLock nut anticlockwise into position by hand; it will automatically tighten to the right torque during the first sharpening. To change stone, turn the stone clockwise while holding the leather honing wheel with the other hand, and the EzyLock will easily loosen.
This construction makes it easy to switch between grindstones, from the Tormek Original Grindstone to the specialty Blackstone Silicon for high-speed steel and the 4000 grit Japanese Waterstone. Fits Tormek T-8, T-7, 2000 and all older models with a 250 mm stone.
There are several good ways to sharpen chisels and plane irons: water stones, diamond stones, oil stones and sharpening machines such as Tormek. All give sharp edges, but they differ in speed, maintenance and price.
