Kit for a square of the type shown in Christopher Schwarz's book The Anarchist's Tool Chest. The square was originally a student project; tool dealer Patrick Leach has found many of them in the U.K. and suspects it was part of a school curriculum.

Making the square from scratch in a class takes two days, with lessons from accurate half-laps to truing long edges and sawing small beads. The kit spares you that: the parts are 1/2" Baltic birch, and all the joinery and decorative details are already cut. Just clean up with sandpaper and glue the parts together. The long legs are 21", ideal for laying out dados and crosscuts.
Leave it unfinished or finish it with paint, oil or a film finish. Being plywood, it is unlikely ever to go out of square. Assembly instructions are available as a video from Lost Art Press. Made in USA.
