Veritas steel straightedge, 12", made in Canada. Shop accuracy begins with a benchmark straightedge as a surface reference. Both edges are ground flat over the entire length to within 0.0010", and the straightedge has been stress relieved to remain true under temperature variation.
It is 1-1/2" high, 1/4" thick and weighs just over 1 lb, and stands on edge unsupported, leaving both hands free for precise measurement or tool adjustment. It is a handy size for checking plane soles or water stones for flatness, and a good choice anywhere a larger straightedge would be unwieldy or risk damaging the item being checked. Hang hole for storage on a nail or hook.
Our straightedges should be straight within a very small tolerance, which is plenty for most woodworking tasks such as checking planed surfaces and plane soles.
If you need an even tighter tolerance, there are more expensive straightedges available, but that is reflected in the price.
If you suspect your straightedge is not straight, feel free to contact us or drop by the shop and we will take a look at it.
Products that make the parcel longer than 120 cm count as bulky, for example long saws, planes, rules and clamps. Such parcels sometimes need special handling by the carriers.
At the moment we do not charge any extra fee for bulky shipping. You always see the total shipping cost in the cart before you confirm the order.
Most products are restocked on an ongoing basis, but delivery times from the manufacturer vary. When an item is out of stock, the button Notify me when available appears on the product page.
Click the button and enter your email address, and we will email you as soon as the item is back in stock. If you are logged in, your email address is registered automatically. If you want to know when the next delivery is expected, you are welcome to contact us.
How often items are restocked depends on the supplier. We receive deliveries from Veritas about once a month, Lie-Nielsen ships in batches and we order from Incra about once a year. You can also add the item to a wishlist in your account, where you can see whether it is in stock.
