The Veritas saw set combines the best features of quality classic sets in a single design, letting you set a wide range of saws with one tool, from coarse rip panel saws to joinery saws as fine as 28 tpi.
It has a two-stage spring-loaded mechanism. Squeezing the lever first clamps the blade, and once that bottoms out, the ram advances and bends the tooth against the anvil. The amount of set is adjusted by moving the anvil: loosen the locking knob, turn the adjuster and tighten the knob. A built-in cursor lets you note the anvil position for the next time you set the same saw.
The lever and grip are sized for comfort and to minimise hand fatigue, and the viewport is widened for better visibility. The body is cast from ZA-12, a zinc-aluminium alloy as strong as cast iron but less brittle and 20% lighter. The ram and anvil are hardened steel and the knobs solid brass. Made in Canada.

We expect a saw set to work if a bandsaw blade needs its teeth set, especially if it is a fine-toothed blade.
However, bandsaw blades may be too hard for an ordinary saw set, in which case you need a heavier-duty tool made for bandsaw blades. If you are unsure, feel free to contact us before you buy.
Which handsaw to choose depends on the tooth pattern and the number of teeth per inch (tpi). Rip teeth cut along the grain and crosscut teeth across it. Few teeth give fast but rough cuts, and many teeth give slower, cleaner cuts.
