The stainless steel bolster transitions smoothly into the taper of the handle for a larger hand contact area. The hard maple handles have been torrefied, a heating process that changes the structure of the wood at the cellular level to stabilize it against swelling and shrinkage. The large 5 3/4" awl fits comfortably in your hand. Made in Canada.
