Husets ABC: en handbok för husägare (The ABCs of Homeownership)

Owning a house involves many decisions, big and small. Whether you renovate yourself or hire help, Husets ABC (The ABCs of Homeownership) is a good foundation and a real bible in the field. The emphasis is on things a reasonably handy person can manage on their own, and the practical work is described with clear illustrations and step-by-step instructions.

The book takes the reader from basement floor to roof ridge, room by room. Materials, design, function, care, maintenance and repairs are described in detail, and it explains in simple terms how plumbing and electrical installations work. The exterior, facades, windows and doors are also covered, as well as how to build a terrace, bay window or dormer and how to protect the house against burglary, fire and pests.

Since its publication in 2003 the book has been continually updated with the latest findings and regulations, and there is now another thoroughly revised edition. New features include the rules and conditions for second homes and other building regulations. The book is in Swedish.
