Carl Malmsten is one of the great Swedish furniture designers, but he was also an energetic person in educational matters and started his own schools. One of these schools is now part of Linköping University, but is located in newly built premises on Lidingö outside Stockholm. Here, Malmsten's ideas are passed on in design, craftsmanship, sustainability and tacit knowledge are passed on to students in today's world. The programme is based on a cultural heritage that is placed in the present and with a view to the future. The book's skilful author is cultural journalist Gunilla Kindstrand, who also captures the views of students and teachers through conversations and interviews. The book is richly illustrated, often with unique images.
