The Woodworker's Pocket Book is small, just 4" × 6 1/2", but contains 112 pages of critical information for the hand-tool woodworker. Edited by the great Charles H. Hayward and published in 1949, it is a guide to everything from finishing recipes to drawing ellipses to choosing the correct screw or nail.

The book was regularly updated and republished, and Lost Art Press decided to reprint the original edition (with permission). It is packed with drawings from Hayward and doesn't deal much with the metric system, sharpening high-speed steel sawblades or pulley sizes for your machines. In other words, it is for the woodworker who likes working by hand using fractions, inches and feet.

The book literally fits in your back pocket and belongs in your tool chest or tool cabinet; it is more like a tool than a book. It is designed for a shop environment, with sewn and taped signatures, high-density boards and a durable paper that improves on the original. Printed in the United States.
