Veritas skew rabbet plane, left-hand. With a blade skewed at 30° to reduce cut resistance and aid shaving clearance, this plane cuts quickly and quietly, avoiding the set-up, noise and dust of power tools.
Corner cuts are clean and accurate. A scoring spur ahead of the blade reduces tear-out on cross-grain work. The 7 3/8" fence allows a maximum rabbet width of 1 1/2" and is through-drilled for a wooden extension. An adjustable shoe limits rabbet depth to 3/4".
The blade is 1/8" thick and just over 1 5/8" wide, with a bevel edge of about 1 3/4", in A2, O1 or PM-V11. Depth adjustment is fast and accurate, and side set screws allow repeatable blade positioning. The 9 3/4" ductile cast iron body has a 45° bed and weighs 3 1/2 lb.
The plane comes in left- and right-hand versions. You may need only the one that suits your dominant hand, but they are complementary, since having both lets you handle any grain direction. Longer 6" stainless-steel fence rods are available separately. Made in Canada. Patented.
Supplied with a lapped A2 tool steel blade.
