Veritas power tenon cutter, 1-1/2", for rustic furniture. The aluminum body cuts smooth, perfect tenons with radiused shoulders. The cutter is designed to run vibration-free while being driven by an electric drill, yet still yields the same accuracy when used with a hand brace. The anodized body has been balanced to eliminate vibration and an integral level vial makes in-line cutting more accurate.
To increase safety, the back end of the blade is contoured to avoid anything extending beyond the revolving aluminum body. The body has a built-in honing guide for easy sharpening of blades on a drill-press mounted drum sander. The blade is adjustable to cut the exact size of tenon required in both dry and green wood.
This size cuts 4-1/4" long tenons and is used for larger structural connections, such as bed frame to post, or fence rail to post. Hex shank, for use in larger electric drills with a 1/2" (or larger) chuck. Not for use in a drill press. High-carbon steel blade. Made in Canada. Patented.
It depends on which Veritas tenon cutter you have:
Straight tenon cutter (05J41): the rounded shoulder at the base of the tenon is not meant to go into the hole, only the straight tenon. So all you need is a drill bit for the hole
Tapered tenon cutter (05J46): cuts an angled tenon, and there is a matching reamer that bores the hole at the same angle
For the straight tenon cutter an ordinary Forstner bit of the same size works well, for example a 3/4" bit for a 3/4" cutter. Regular wood drill bits of the same size work too.
Most products are restocked on an ongoing basis, but delivery times from the manufacturer vary. When an item is out of stock, the button Notify me when available appears on the product page.
Click the button and enter your email address, and we will email you as soon as the item is back in stock. If you are logged in, your email address is registered automatically. If you want to know when the next delivery is expected, you are welcome to contact us.
How often items are restocked depends on the supplier. We receive deliveries from Veritas about once a month, Lie-Nielsen ships in batches and we order from Incra about once a year. You can also add the item to a wishlist in your account, where you can see whether it is in stock.
