Veritas Bench Anchor 20 mm

Veritas bench anchor for 20 mm holes. Think of them as barrel-shaped insert nuts, except they self-anchor and are removable. Usable horizontally, vertically or at any angle in between, they accept common 1/2-13 threaded bolts and wedge in through holes in material as thin as 5/8" (depending on its strength) or in 1 1/4" deep blind holes.

The wedging mechanism is controlled by an integral hex-head screw drive, and an external rubber O-ring holds the anchor in place by friction during installation. With 3/8" of internal thread travel, the anchors are designed to secure material of known thickness with a fixed-length fastener, for example 3/4" material with a 1" machine screw. Ideal for thin material, jigs, guides and more. Best used with non-hex-head fasteners, as the force from a wrench may overpower the anchor and loosen it.

In Veritas tests, an anchor fully seated in a 1 1/4" blind hole had a pull-out strength of at least 200 lb in hardwood and 150 lb in softwood. Actual pull-out strength varies with material and torque. All-steel construction, made in Canada. Any 1/2-13 threaded rod or bolt can be used, and Veritas also offers flat-head and round-head fasteners separately.
